Intended learning outcomes

In the Chemical Engineering Laboratories 2 course are involved laboratories applications of industrial chemical processes, using computational simulation associated with subjects like: synthesis, analysis, energy integration and economic optimization of unit operations and industrial processes. The students who successfully complete the course will be able to:

  1. Fluently use numerical simulators for design (synthesis) and evaluation (analysis) of the chemical processes behavior involving interdependent unit operations.
  2. Define the strategy and implement a quantitative evaluation for each operating condition in each unit operations, as well as the energy consumption of the overall process.
  3. Design an energy integration scheme using a heat exchanger network. Quantitatively evaluate the savings achieved.
  4. Gain the necessary autonomy to make technological options as well as the know-how to design a strategy for processes synthesis at the technical and economic optimizations levels.
